The Science

“Plant oil application may act as a protective barrier to the skin by an occlusive effect, allowing the skin to retain moisture, resulting in decreased transepidermal water loss values. Additionally, topical products have the benefit of higher bioavailability in the skin and having a localized effect rather than systemic effects.”  (Lin, et al. 2017)

“Sunflower seed oil has been shown to preserve [stratum corneum, outermost layer of skin] integrity and improve hydration of the adult skin without inducing erythema [redness].” (Lin, et al. 2017)

Sweet Almond oil has been shown to reduce itching associated with and progression of stretch marks/scarring, as well as preventing structural damage caused by UV exposure.  (Lin, et al. 2017)

A 20-minute facial massage with peach kernel oil demonstrated significant reduction in systolic blood pressure (8.5 mm Hg) in a pilot study. The facial massage also led to greater ease of sleep induction

(Ejindu, A. 2007).

Calendula has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties with evidence of improved physiological regeneration and decreased hydration loss (Akhtar, et al. 2011).
